For all you taste testers...I'm making butter chicken yet again - in the crockpot. If you are interested in a taste, just respond with a comment to this post. Post even if you've already tried it...I'll be tweaking the recipe from the last batch.

Hey Anupy,

The butter chicken I tested/tasted two Friday's ago was wonderful. Without any Basmati or naan on hand I substituted a simple brown rice so the flavors of the chicken wouldn't be masked. The spice level(taste not heat) was very rich, with nice deep Chili tones, and the rice soaked up the delicious sauce perfectly. I look forward to trying more of your dishes.

thanks, matt

Hi Anupy,

Sorry for the delay. The chicken was delicious, I served it over brown rice as I try to avoid naan, sadly I cannot tolerate gluten so well. I also shared with a friend and we both found the flavors to be wonderful. I've never really had butter chicken, embarrasing being Indian, and found it a little richer than some other indian dishes but it wouldn't be butter chicken then. My friends only comment was she thought perhaps more salt was needed, but I didn't find that to be the case. Thanks again for sharing. I am missing you in the am. Email me so we can connect somehow. Hi Anupy, its James! So the butter chicken was lovely!! I put my own spin on the recipe however. Instead of eating it with Naan or Basmati Rice I decided to treat it as a salad, I boiled a potato sliced it and placed the soft squishy potato and the butter chicken on toasted sesame buns and ate it as a sandwich. It was lovely and the bread was perfect because it absorbed the excess sauce making the whole sandwich delightful. I really enjoyed it because being someone who does not cook this would be a great recipe that I could make and tweak it by adding potatoes or even making basmati rice and adding it to the chicken until it is less saucy and thick enough to layer on toasted bread and taking to pot lucks or making a large dish big enough to share with friends! Keep up the fabulous work. BTW in your cook book you should list this dish as a low carb option for anyone dieting.

Hi Anupy,
The butter chicken was delicious! I ate it over rice. It was great comfort food…warm and smooth and enhanced by the aroma and flavor of cinnamon and spice. It reminded me of the Fall/Winter when people put mulling spices on the stove. I really enjoyed it Karyn
