I'm sorry I haven't posted anything since last week. I've had a face stuffed with pizza - visting home (King of Prussia, PA). It's really hard to type with a slice .. er. make that four slices ... in one hand. Gosh, that East Coast thin crust is sooo good. But, of course, I'm paying for it now. Wednesday I forced myself to go to bootcamp - my first real workout in about 4 days. Of course, we all started to talk about weight. One person complained that she wasn't near the shape she wanted to be. (I can relate...

Neha's fish Rana died today. It's about the 12th one that has perished in the tank of ... death. With this book on my plate and another Sun-Times piece to work on I'm so not interested in cleaning a fish tank in the 3-4 minutes I usually have to myself in a day. Unfortunately, Neha insisted through tears that we keep Rana downstairs in a cup. Inside the house so the rats don't get it in the middle of the night. So..I have a dead fish in a plastic cup sitting on my shoe rack right now waiting to be...

Yeah, it's summer. But doesn't that mean you want to spend more time outside playing rather than over a hot stove or grill cooking? I'm going to defy crockpot logic and say summer more than ever is a time to pull out your good 'ole slow cooker. Especially if it means making/cooking authentic Indian food in mere minutes of prep time. If you want to check out some of my tried and true recipes send me an email. I'll be packaging the dry beans along with the spices for you. So, all you have to do is buy the fresh...

So today I broke down and went to Whole Foods in Lincoln Park to buy beef. As most of you know by now I rarely buy or even eat meat. But - beef I haven't cooked or eaten in about 20 years. I just don't care for the smell or the taste. I don't judge you if you do eat it. Some of my best friends - oh, and my husband - eat beef. But here I was today standing at the counter looking forlorn and a little pathetic with a handwritten recipe for Nihari in my spiral cookbook journal....

Does anyone want two kids? Aged 4 and 6? Just kidding...but sometimes I wonder. We had a great breakfast out and then when Sandeep went to take them to the park so I could have an hour to myself - finally - to cook - what does Aria do? Throw one of the biggest tantrums of her toddler career. But...I persevered. I won. I got one over on HER. And she ended up helping me in the kitchen again, but of course AGAIN - I got half of what I wanted done - done. Here are the recipes I finished:REMEMBER...
