If I wasn't writing this blog I wouldn't have cooked today. It's a busy one. Hanging out with the kids...running important errands...going to Association of Women Journalist's (AWJ) networking event tonight...
But, because I promised I'd make a few recipes yesterday I thought I should at least take the 20 minutes I have and start one. So, I'm remaking my cousin Juhi's Simple Kitchari. It just needs 6 ingredients plus water. It took me 10 minutes to prep the ingredients and throw it into my crockpot. It should be ready in about 6 hours. That's why YOU need a CROCKPOT!
I'll post the recipe once I perfect it...but for now those of you new to Indian - kitchari means mixed in Hindi. So, something that's all mixed up. It's two parts lentils to one part rice. It's made without spices to heal an upset stomach and with spices when eating for lunch. It's like the American equivalent of mom's chicken noodle soup. It's nourishing and delicious!
Also, I intend to add pictures and more web links but for now as I'm dealing with my learning curve, this is all I can give you. More will come. I promise!
