Stovetop: Easy Masala Sliders
Masala Sliders - Indian As Apple Pie

SLIDERS SCREAM SUMMER

... and of course, Fourth of July. This year, put a simple twist on your grilling skills with easy Masala Sliders infused with our delicious spice blends, which when added to any ground meat immediately elevate. I love the combination of garam masala and chaat masala, but feel free to experiment with others.

If you want to take it up a notch, add chopped onion, sliced green chiles, and cilantro. For a topper, try our tamarind chutney. If you're really into ketchup, simply combine equal parts of the tamarind chutney and your favorite ketchup for a unique twist. Or try a dollop of our tikka masala and use our simmering sauce as a condiment.

I also love anything fermented and/or pickled on my masala burger, like grated and fermented beets with red cabbage (my daughter picked up something at the grocer), or even this recipe for fresh pickled turmeric. It's layer upon layer upon layer of amazing flavor. Not to fret for the veg heads out there ... this black chickpea burger will absolutely satisfy your tastebuds. Need a delicious side to go with that? Give our Indian-inspired potato salad a try.

Stovetop: Easy Masala Sliders

Makes: 9 sliders
Prep: 5 minutes
Cook: 4-16 minutes, depending on the type of meat
Total: Up to 21 minutes, depending on the type of meat

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground meat (chicken, turkey, steak, or lamb)
  • 2 teaspoons Indian As Apple Pie garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon Indian As Apple Pie chaat masala
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Oil or ghee, for stovetop cooking
  • Indian As Apple Pie tamarind chutney or tikka masala, for garnish
  • Sliced onion and tomato, for garnish
  • Slider buns

Instructions

  1. Add the ingredients in the order listed above to a roomy bowl and combine until the spices are evenly distributed. Use kitchen gloves if mixing with your hands.
  2. Take a ¼ cup measuring cup and dole out the mixture, form balls, pat them down into patties, add your oil or ghee (stovetop only), and cook them in a skillet or on a grill. The cook time will vary. Cook the chicken about 4 minutes on each side, turkey about 6 minutes on each side, lamb about 8 minutes on each side, and steak is quick (rare to well-done to taste). Chicken and turkey should be cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees F (Fahrenheit). Ground lamb should be cooked to an internal temperature of 160 degrees F. For lamb, pull it off early and let it rest if you prefer a little pink on the inside.
  3. Assemble the sliders on the buns (toast first if you prefer), top with a dollop of tamarind chutney and/or tikka masala, onion, and tomato – or whatever other toppings. I like heating the tikka masala, but right out of the jar is also delicious.
